SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE?

CONVERSATION WITH FRIEND ABOUT SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

Last night I had conversation with my friend. she is working with TCS and doesn’t know about the computer architecture and I had explained to her.

Me:  hii, how are you??
Nikky: Fine, how’s the MBA life
Me: Good, it’s busy life
Nikky: ok.what about studies??
Me: good .hey do you know about computer architecture as your were working in TCS
Nikky: No, I don’t know anything
Me: Do you know about the terms application, server etc..,
Nikky: yup..
Me: Good..Basically, Computer Architecture are of  3 types
      Single-Tier Architecture
      Two-Tier Architecture
      Three-Tier Architecture
In Single-Tier Both the Data and application resides on the same machine whereas in Two-Tier the data is separated from application. In this type of Architecture CLIENT-SERVER and CLIENT MACHINES are present. The common data that is used by all is stored in a common machine called the SERVER and each user has a copy of application on their own machine , called CLIENT MACHINES.

Nikky:yeah..but in our office, I think we use Multi-Tier architecture.
Me: Great..I will Explain to you. Three-Tier consists of essentially three layers - client, business logic server and the central data server all connected through a WAN (Wide Area Network).I will give you an example: An ERP product-like SAP, that is used in large number of corporations is a perfect example.

And in Multi-Tier Web browser comes into play between the application server and the user. There is no need to install the software in each system. We can use it  through Web browser.

Nikky: How can you protect these things from hackers??
Me: Firewall servers protects from unauthorised computers. The firewall servers stand as gatekeepers between the public internet and company’s LAN.
Nikky: Oh great,, thank you catch you later bye good night
Me: Good night..
